LIFO/FIFO

LIFO and FIFO are accounting methodologies that CipherTrace has applied to blockchain account tracing. LIFO stands for Last In, First Out and it means considering the flows out of an account as being from funds that most recently came in. FIFO stands for First In, First Out and it means considering flows out of an account as coming from funds that were the earliest to come into the account. It is important for most investigators to clearly denote which methodology they use in their traces. Ciphertrace’s Inspector graph visualizer has different modes that will automatically use one of these methodologies to follow funds. It also offers a Manual mode, which traces outgoing funds chronologically.
